Maple alternatives: where to go before 31 December

Maple has been acquired by Wander and shuts down on 31 December 2026. After that date, Maple says, all data is deleted and cannot be recovered. You need two things: a copy of your data, and a new app. How to get your data out of Maple is a separate guide. This page is about the new app.
Maple did several jobs: a family calendar with sync to Google, Apple and Outlook, a meal planner and recipe box, shopping lists, to-dos and project folders. No single app below does all of them the same way. Start with the job you used Maple for most.

If the meal planner was the point
Cozi has a meal planner and a recipe box, on every platform; the free plan has ads and shows only about a month of calendar ahead. FamilyWall has a meal planner on Premium. Nori plans meals and fills the shopping list from them, on iPhone and Android. Somiya is the wrong choice here: we do not build a meal planner, on purpose.
If the calendar was the point
If Maple synced to Google, Apple or Outlook, your events are already in that account and stay there after the shutdown. The free Apple Family Sharing or Google family group calendar may be all you need. For a family app on top, every app in the table imports an .ics file.
If shared lists and to-dos were the point
Cozi, FamilyWall, Calendara and Somiya all have shared lists. In Somiya each task has an owner, and its reminder goes to that person in their own timezone. Somiya can also read a screenshot of a Maple list and turn it into items, which matters because Maple names no export format for lists.
How we compared them
We did not run a lab test or give scores. For each app we read the App Store listing, the company’s own pricing page and privacy policy, and its help pages on exporting. “Not checked” means the company’s own pages did not say, and we would rather leave a gap than guess. Before 31 December
- Check where your calendar is. If Maple synced it to Google, Apple or Outlook, it is already safe there.
- Export it as an
.icsfile and check the file in our free calendar file checker. - Screenshot every list, recipe and note while Maple still opens.
- Pick the new app and import. The files keep; the deadline does not move.

It depends on what you used Maple for. For meals and recipes: Cozi, FamilyWall or Nori. For a free calendar only: the Apple Family Sharing or Google family group calendar. For shared lists and tasks with reminders that go to the right person on iPhone, with no ads: Somiya.
